Off Record vs. QuickBooks
Software doesn't file
your taxes for you.
QuickBooks is a great tool for traditional small businesses. But it doesn't know what gifted products are, it can't advise on S-Corp elections, and it doesn't file your taxes. Off Record does all three — built around creator income from the ground up.

Why organized finances
aren't the same as optimized taxes.
The core problem
QuickBooks is software. Off Record is a service.
QuickBooks gives you tools to organize your finances — but you still have to use them, interpret them, and hire a separate CPA to file your taxes. Off Record gives you the tools and handles the strategy and filing. You don't need to become an accountant. You need your taxes handled by someone who understands creators.
Creator income
QuickBooks wasn't built for how you make money.
QuickBooks works well for businesses that invoice clients and pay suppliers. Creator income doesn't look like that — AdSense, brand deal wires, Shopify payouts, gifted products, UGC contracts, affiliate commissions. QuickBooks can categorize transactions, but it won't tell you whether gifted products are taxable, how to structure a brand deal to minimize SE tax, or when you've crossed the threshold where an S-Corp makes sense.
Tax strategy
Clean books ≠ low taxes.
QuickBooks helps you track what happened. Off Record helps you pay less in taxes. The S-Corp election alone can save creators $5,000–$20,000+ per year in self-employment tax — but only if you set it up correctly and run payroll properly. QuickBooks doesn't help with any of that. Our S-Corp wizard and CPA partners do.
Pricing
QuickBooks starts at $30/month — without tax filing.
QuickBooks Online starts at $30/month just for the accounting software. You still need a CPA to file your taxes (typically $500–$2,000+ for a creator return). Off Record's Creator CFO tier includes bookkeeping, quarterly tax planning, and full tax filing — 1040 and 1120-S — for less than most creator CPAs charge for filing alone.
